The First-Ever Footage Of This Rare Anglerfish Is Absolutely Terrifying

Anglerfish are some of the strangest and most elusive fish on the planet. These fish are so rare, and live so deep in the ocean, that few living specimens have ever been filmed in their natural habitat.

However, team of marine researchers at Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute were able to capture one species of anglerfish on film for perhaps the first time ever!

It is called the black seadevil anglerfish, and much like its name, it’s pretty terrifying when it comes to the looks department. They are appropriately named for their gruesome appearance and pitch black skin.
